Our Help Starts Here Hike to Help the Homeless is an impactful, family friendly event that will help someone in need take the 1st step towards rebuilding their life.
70% of the people we serve need an ID to secure employment or housing. Your $40 registration doesn’t just cover a hike, it funds documents that can change a life.
Choose your trail, connect with community, and know every step helps provide IDs that open the door to jobs and housing.

Date/Time: Sat, Oct 18 • Check-in 8:00 AM • Kickoff 8:30 AM
Location: Piestewa Peak (Phoenix Mountain Preserve) – trailhead ramada for check-in
Capacity: 40 hikers total
What we provide: Bottled water + light packaged snacks (free)
What to bring: Water bottle, hat, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes
Facilities: Restroom on site at trailhead ramada

Piestewa Peak is a gorgeous and challenging mountain range that travels through the heart of Phoenix Mountains Park.
302 Freedom Loop Trail (moderate)
Great for regular hikers. Scenic challenge for regular hikers. Rewarding views without the full summit grind (we’ll go to the saddle, but in the interest of time, not go to the summit.) Est time is about 2.5 hours. Details here…
304 & VOAZ Loop (beginner friendly – easy)
Gentle grade with views and shade pockets. Estimated time is about 1.5 hours. Details here…
Virtual Hike (for those who can’t make it)
Even if you can’t join us in Phoenix, you can hike anywhere, anytime that week and still change a life. Choose your favorite trail, park, or treadmill. Donate $40 and dedicate your hike to funding 1 ID + birth certificate for someone in need. Share your photos on social media with #HelpStartsHereHike to inspire others.

8:00 AM Check-in & waiver at ramada
8:30 AM Welcome, mission story, safety briefing, group photo
8:45 AM Hit the trail (Freedom & VOAZ groups)
11:00–11:30 AM Return, closing circle, impact recap, final photo
FAQ
Is this family-friendly? Yes—choose the VOAZ Loop for an easier option.
Can I register a group? Yes—add multiple tickets in one order; assign names at checkout.
Are pets allowed? Although dogs are allowed in the area, they are not permitted on the Piestewa Summit Trail, which this route follows for a portion of the way.
Will there be food? We provide bottled water + light packaged snacks (no sales on site).
Weather plan? If trails are closed or unsafe, we’ll reschedule or refund upon request.
Refunds? If you can’t attend, your ticket will be converted to a donation.
Merch? Available online only after registration (no vending in the park).
